Kosmc: How does a typical day look like in your life?
I usually wake up pretty early to take my dog for a 1-hour walk, then it’s breakfast and I complete a bit of work. I usually edit during the mornings, record my podcast in the afternoon, and film reels in the evenings. I end my day with another long walk with my dog and then it’s time for dinner, some TV and I read before going to bed.
Kosmc: What tools or apps do you use to manage your daily schedule and tasks effectively?
I love making to-do lists, I usually make them on the Notes app on my phone the previous night so I’m clear about what the schedule for the next day looks like. Since I work independently, it keeps me motivated to be productive. Apart from that, I use Google Docs to script, Adobe Premier Pro to edit videos, and Riverside.fm to record my virtual podcast interviews.
Kosmc: Tell us about your workspace, where you create your content.
I usually work from home, sitting on my sofa. But on days when I feel demotivated or distracted, I go to a nearby cafe and work from there. I’ve found that a change of space is important to keep one’s mind active, especially if you work from home. I usually film near my balcony since I like shooting in natural light, but managing the traffic sound from outside is a challenge at times.
Kosmc: What’s your go-to favorite spot in Singapore or Mangalore that holds a special place in your heart?
The beach in Mangalore is always special. Everyone growing up in Mangalore has great memories of spending time playing in the water with their family, eating snacks, and then finishing the day with some ice cream from Ideals Ice Cream parlor.
Kosmc: What are some episodes or moments from your podcast, “chummaconversations” you love?
I recently spoke to Anmol Jamwal from Tried & Refused Productions and I enjoyed the conversation about how we view films and how our perception of things changes with time. As creators, we often have to strike a balance between staying true to ourselves and pleasing the audience, and the conversation with him made me realize that staying true to oneself will eventually bring the audience around as well.
Kosmc: Who would be your dream collaboration for the podcast?
Komal Pandey! She’s been one of the earliest content creators I know and one of the few who has been able to reinvent herself time and time again. Her work ethic is also really admirable and I’d like to discuss her creation process with her.
kosmc: One piece of advice for aspiring podcasters?
Be consistent. It is natural to get demotivated after 3-5 episodes, but the most successful podcasters are those who have been consistently releasing one episode every week for months until they hit their big break.
Kosmc: What music genres or artists do you enjoy listening to while cooking or working?
I’ve been enjoying a lot of The Beatles during the mornings. It’s quite fun and uplifting and gives a great start during the day.
Kosmc : Favorite quote?
Keep your eyes on the stars and your feet on the ground!
Kosmc : Top three podcasts you listen to regularly?
- Off Camera with Sam Jones
- Simple Ken by Kenny Sebastian
- Serial (True Crime podcast)
Kosmc: What are a few dishes you love cooking and sharing with your audience?
I like making easy, comfort meals that make cooking seem less intimidating. There are many days that I feel too lazy to cook an elaborate meal so I enjoy quick 5-minute recipes. Another genre is reintroducing traditional dishes like ghee roast chicken, or making ghee at home. I know especially young people want to save money so learning to make ghee/peanut butter at home is a huge bonus.
